"The Children's Liturgy of the Word is not a new rite. It is the same rite, adapted for children to hear God's word in language they can understand, and designed as a way of including children in the Liturgy of the Word for the entire parish assembly...The Children's Liturgy of the Word is intended to be a learning experience through worship, not catechesis."
Church of the Annunciation
Liturgy of the Word for Children is designed for children grades 1 - 4. No registration is necessary. Parents are always welcome to come with their children.
We serve our parishioners and their children through the Children's Liturgy on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays of the month (unless there is a holiday) at the 10:15 AM Mass.
Participation in Children's Liturgy does not take the place of Religious Education.
During Liturgy of the Word for Children, the children are invited to leave the assembly and go to a separate meeting place where a simplified version of the Sunday readings are read, along with a presentation to help the children understand the theme of the readings. The children are returned to the assembly in church after the Presentation of the Gifts.
