Parish Goals & Objectives
2008-2009
|
 |
Outlined below are the parish goals and objectives for 2008-2009 as discerned through the Pastoral Council's annual pastoral planning process.
GOAL 1: To create an ongoing ministry that will plan and implement at least one parish mission per year.
(Team Leader - Marcie Vernon)
OBJECTIVES:
- Develop a Mission Planning Manual that will include the logistics for planning timelines, publicity, facilities, hospitality, liturgy, etc. for Parish Missions by March 2009.
The Mission Planning Manual is partially written.
- By December 2008, invite parishioners to join the Mission Planning Team and to make a commitment for a term of three years.
Ongoing.
- Schedule an annual Parish Mission for the next three years in coordination with the Adult Faith Formation Advisory Team, contracting with outside speakers and scheduling on the parish calendar by July, 2009.
The parish mission, entitled Families of Faith; the Spiritual Dimension of Relationships with Fr. Louis Papes is set for Sunday, July 19, Monday, July 20, and Tuesday, July 21. Additionally, The Passion was shown on March 8, 2009. Planning for summer 2010 parish mission is also underway with the possibility of Dr. Carol Razza for July 18-20, 2010.
GOAL 2: Continue to strengthen the ministry that reaches out to the elderly and homebound through visitation and phone calls by June 2009.
(Team Leader - Brenda Popp)
OBJECTIVES:
- Develop a variety of ways to meet transportation needs of the elderly and homebound by June 2009.
Brenda Popp, Team Leader, is researching possible transportation options other than direct transportation provided by parishioners. The group is going to brainstorm this objective at the January meeting.
- Continue to strengthen the ministry focused on visitation and phone calls by June 2009.
There are 25 active volunteers and 9 additional volunteers have signed up for the training that will be held on Feb. 21 at 10:15 am. There are 18 parishioners receiving services. We need to get the word out that visitation and phone contact services are available because we now have more volunteers than we have needs.
- Provide a workshop for Caregivers by April 2009.
BrendaPopp conducted a Caregiver’s Workshop at the Senior Center in collaboration with Elder Care Services in January, 2009. She will repeat the workshop for Good Shepherd parishioners on Saturday, April 4, 2009.
- Investigate ways to coordinate needs of the elderly for repairs with Good Shepherd Builds Ministry by June 2009.
The “Good Shepherd Builds” ministry is coordinating repairs that are needed by the poor and elderly currently served by Good News Outreach. We have not yet received any requests from parishioners.
Goal 3: To encourage registered parishioners to become more fully involved in the sacramental and community life of the parish.
(Team Leader - TBA)
OBJECTIVES:

Objectives are still being discerned by the Pastoral Council.
