Please contact the Ministry Leader that referred you to be Fingerprinted
THANK YOU for Volunteering at Good Shepherd!! Before completing online courses, please get a Fingerprint Waiver form from your Ministry leader or at the Parish Office. Once the form has been completed (don't forget to write the Ministry you will be volunteering with!) and fingerprinting has been scheduled, continue on to the Shield the Vulnerable information below.
The Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee has established requirements for all staff and volunteers working for, or representing, a Parish, who work with children, youth, elderly and vulnerable adults - or - who are involved with the instruction and guidance of children and young people.
Shield the Vulnerable is an online training program which allows you to complete a list of required courses. All Good Shepherd ministries have been reviewed and placed in one of two categories.
Please note that Good Shepherd has identified ADDITIONAL courses that are required (based on Category) than what is identified by the Shield the Vulnerable training program.
Diocesan guidelines will also require that the Shield the Vulnerable courses be repeated every five years at the same time you complete a new fingerprint scan.
The following courses are required based on your ministry (see below):
These courses are optional:
Category 1 consists of the following:
*Ministries marked with an asterisk must pay the $65 charge for fingerprint processing.
Criminal background checks and fingerprints are valid for only five (5) years. After five years, a new criminal background check MUST be completed. This consists of: completing a new VECHS waiver from the Parish Office, obtaining instructions for making an appointment to have your fingerprints scanned at the remote site, and completing the fingerprint scan.
Reprocessing must be completed one month prior to expiration of previous criminal background check.
Diocesan guidelines will also require that the Shield the Vulnerable courses be repeated every five (5) years at the same time you complete a new fingerprint scan.
