Who Should Register?
  • Preschool - 3 & 4 year old & kindergarten (5 year old) programs.  [Sept. 1 is the cut-off date for determining preschool-age and kindergarten classes.]

  • Grades 1-8 - for students not attending a Catholic school for religious education classes. Grades should correspond to those in school.[Copy of baptismal certificate required for Grades 1 & 2 even if baptized at Good Shepherd]

  • First Reconciliation & First Communion
    • Children under age 7 (grade 1 or under) - contact the Parish Office at 893-1837
    • Grade 2 RE students will prepare for First Reconciliation and First Communion (completion of Grade 1 RE/Catholic School required).
    • Grade 2 Trinity students will receive a letter in late summer about registering for First Reconciliation/First Communion; copy of baptismal certificate required.
    • RCIA programs available for older children and youth who have not celebrated sacraments.

  • Confirmation - Classes for Religious Education (RE) and Trinity Catholic School students who are in Grade 8 & above.  NOTE:  Two years of middle school religious education required prior to Confirmation classes.  While the Confirmation Program is distinct from the RE classes, these classes are held after the Grade 8 classes end in February at the same day and time as the RE classes they wree attending. Trinity students begin classes in February, 2011.
    • High School Confirmation classes are also available (beginning February, 2011)
    • Confirmation will be sometime around February, 2012 for all candidates who begin in February, 2011

    * Confirmation students need only register once for the        Confirmation Program; Confirmation will be sometime        around February, 2011 for all candates who begin in        February, 2010.

Additional Information
  • Copies of baptismal certificates are required (even if baptized at Good Shepherd) for Grades 1, 2 and Confirmation and RCIA for Children programs.
  • Class levels should correspond to the student’s grade in his/her regular school.
  • Students registering for Confirmation must be in Grade 8 or above in 2010-2011 in public/private school.

Fees

Payment is requested, BUT NOT REQUIRED, at time of registration and can be waived in cases of need.  Fees are:

  • $40 per student - Preschool through Grade 7
  • $45 Confirmation
  • $75 Grade 8 & Confirmation combined
  • Family maximum of $150
Catechists Needed

Catechist Registration Form 2010-2011

Classes are taught by teams of two catechists (teachers); training and support are provided.  A catechist is an ordinary person who is extraordinary because he or she has made a commitment to learning, teaching, and sharing the Gospel and its power to transform lives.

Requirements:  All who can make a commitment, like children/youth, and would like to help in their religious education/faith formation (this will help YOU learn also). 

  • Catechists, substitutes, and other volunteers with children, youth, and the elderly must complete the Diocesan fingerprint and sexual abuse workshop requirements prior to beginning teaching.
