Bereavement Ministry
The goal of the Bereavement Ministry is to provide comfort and assistance to fellow parishioners during loss due to death. The Ministry is available for pre-need, time-of-need and post-funeral assistance. The ministry can provide something as simple as a reception after the funeral, or as involved as being with the family as their loved one dies and assisting with funeral arrangements.

Celebrate Recovery
The purpose of the Killearn United Methodis Church's Celebrate Recovery is to fellowship and celebrate God's healing power in our lives through the 12 Steps and 8 Recovery Principles. This experience allows us to be changed. We open the door by sharing our experiences, strengths, and hopes with one another. Christmas Food Baskets
Good Shepherd parishioners are invited every year to donate non-perishable food products to the Christmas basket program. Several organization benefit from this program: St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Quincy, Good News Outreach, The Gabriel Project, Lord's Helping Hand, as well as referrals. Approximately 350 families benefit from this effort. Help is needed to sort, pack and deliver food.

Food Ministry - Sick
The food ministry provides meals to parishioners who experience short term illness or family difficulties. Participants are contacted via e-mail with the current needs and can sign up for the day of their choice.

Gabriel Project
A pro-life ministry at Good Shepherd that supports pregnant women in need, providing material, emotional and spiritual support both during and after their pregnancies. Volunteers are needed to plan baby showers, visit women in their homes, give support during labor and delivery and assist with other needs. Donations of baby supplies are also needed.

Good News Outreach
Good News Outreach strives to live Gospel values by providing many different programs that serve the needs of the poor. Elder Services provides for the elderly; Food Distribution provides food for the hungry; Mercy house is a re-entry program for men recently released from prison; Maryland Crossing and Mission Oaks provide housing to the homeless. Habitat for Humanity

Tallahassee Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit ecumenical Christian ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness in Leon County. Good Shepherd parishioners can volunteer to help build a house, donate money towards a build or offer to help with fund raising and clerical needs.

Green Team

Stewardship of the environment is an important part of Good Shepherd's total stewardship effort. The Green Team brainstorms and implements ways to be good stewards of God's creation. Completed projects include the Rain Garden, recycling and supporting sustainable agriculture through purchase of Fair Trade products.

Hope Community Suppers
On the third Saturday of each month a group of parishioners from Good Shepherd prepares and serves supper to the residents of the Hope Community, a transitional housing community for homeless men, women, and children that is run by the Big Bend Homeless Coalition. Participation in this ministry is open to all Good Shepherd individuals and groups.

Keeping in Touch
Through visits and phone contact, parishioners keep in touch with those who are homebound and unable to attend parish events in order to foster a sense of belonging and to provide pastoral care and concern.

Loaves & Fishes Food Closet
Non-perishable food items are collected each week and distributed to families who have an emergency need and request assistance from the parish. All parishioners are encouraged to bring at least one food item to church each Sunday.
Meals for the Shelter
Parishioners prepare and deliver an assigned dish (vegetable, meat casserole or dessert) to the Homeless Shelter every other month. Recipes are provided.

Migrant Ministry
Through frequent visits with the migrants in Quincy, parishioners learn of their needs and how they might share resources. The mission of this ministry is meeting Christ in the poor. Parishioners are invited to visit, to collect gently-used toys, household items or furniture and/or to assist with transportation of these goods as needed.

Open Door Women's Clinic
Offers pro-life counseling and support to women in crisis. Medical testing is also provided at minimal cost. volunteers are needed for clerical assistance, trained counseling assistance and pro-bono medical donations. The ministry is associated with Good News Outreach.

Pax Christi
Pax Christi Florida, a branch of the international Catholic peace movement, seeks to establish peacemaking as an objective for the Catholic Church in Florida. PCF works with various Catholic parishes, communities and agencies, and collaborates with other faith-based and secular groups committed to nonviolent peacemaking, and to social and environmental justice. PHI Center (Pregnancy Health Information)
The Pregancy Help and Information Center exists to provide aid and comfort to any woman facing pregnancy, childbirth or parenting under stressful circumstances. Caring, non-judgmental volunteers are needed in the areas of counseling, board membership, office staff, fund raising, transportation and collection of clothing and furniture. Prayer Shawl Ministry
A prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace by providing a hand made shawl. The group meets during the week and shawls are also created by knitters and crocheters at home. Shawls are initiated and continued with prayer and blessed before being presented to the recipient.

Prison Ministry
Prison ministry at Good Shepherd encompasses several prison ministry opportunities in our area. This includes: Men's Kairos (a prison-based retreat program); Kairos Outside (retreat program for wives, mothers and other relatives of inmates), Eucharistic Minister (delivering communion), mentoring, and catechesis (teaching). These opportunities take place at one or several of the state correctional institutions in the Big Bend area of North Florida. Respect Life
Works for the pro-life credo of the Catholic church including the protection of unborn life, the helpless, the poor and those contemplating suicide, those on death row and others needing help.

St. Vincent de Paul
Leads men and women to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person help to the needy. Projects include food and clothing assistance, financial aid to the shelter for the homeless and the operation of a thrift store.

TEAM (Tallahassee Equality Action Ministry)
TEAM is a congregation-based community organization comprised of 19+ faith based groups united to hold systems accountable to their intended purposes. TEAM brings diverse people together (racial, ethnic, social/economic, faith) to redress community concerns that affect poor and low-income people. Thanksgiving Meals
Parishioners prepare Thanksgiving meal dishes, such as stuffing, pies and green beans, in their homes and bring them to church on Thanksgiving Day. Volunteers then prepare individual meals in the Community Center. Additional volunteers deliver the meals to needy families.
