Who are we?

Big Bend Habitat for Humanity is a local non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness in Leon and Gadsden County.  Habitat selects homeowners based on each family’s needs and income.  Homeowners help with the construction of their home by contributing 400 hours of “sweat equity”.  After moving into their new house, homeowners make monthly mortgage payments to Habitat.

Current Activity

Good Shepherd has committed to sponsor a Habitat Build in 2007.  The start date is October 20, 2007.  The congregation, through the donation of your time, talents and treasure, will be helping a working-class, low-income family achieve their dream of homeownership.  Having a safe, decent place to live is what we all want for ourselves and our children.  Helping others achieve that goal will make the community a better place for all of us.

Like to Volunteer?

If you are interested in volunteering, you can help fund-raise, help recruit and/or organize other volunteers, assist with promotion and public relations, work on the build site itself doing the construction, or provide meals and snacks for the workers.  There is a job for everyone!

Please contact Pat Biggins, 766-7461 or pbiggins@comcast.net .

Other ways you can help

If you would like to make a financial contribution, specify “Good Shepherd Habitat Build” in the memo section of your check and leave it at the church office or with the contact person above.

If you cannot volunteer or make a financial contribution, you can still help.  Pleas join us in praying for the success of the project, the health and prosperity of our family who will occupy the home and the safety of all the volunteers.

Thank you for your generous gifts!
