The New Roman Missal Is Here!

It’s official – the words we say at Mass have now changed!  Beginning with the First Sunday of Advent, November 27, 2011, Catholic Churches throughout the United States began using the 3rd Edition of the Roman Missal. The Mass itself did not change, but many of the words we are used to hearing now sound very different.

In case you missed the Roman Missal teachings in the Good Shepherd Sunday Bullten, or perhaps need another review, we will be repeating all the teachings we’ve run the last 6 months both in the Sunday Bulletin - AND - they will SOON be posted HERE on the web site.

We will all need time to grow in our familiarity with the new words before we return to the point where we can once again say them from memory. The changes bring a wonderful opportunity to go more deeply into the mystery of Christ Jesus, and the praise and thanksgiving we offer to God, our Father, during Mass. The new words will help us make connections with Sacred Scripture and provide better insight into what we are doing at particular parts of the Mass - and why.

Why do we say what we say and do what we do in the Mass? What does it all mean?” If you want to experience the Mass at a deeper level, then I encourage you to join us for a DVD study titled:A Biblical Walk Through the Mass.  In this enlightening study, we will explore the scriptural roots of the Mass and discover the beauty and riches it has to offer. When you see the profound significance of what we are doing in the Liturgy, you will be able to experience the Mass like never before, leading you to a deeper, more fruitful worship experience. Watch the bulletin and the Good Shepherd web site for more details.
